Spotlight On: Brigitte Bardot
Whilst there is Brigitte making waves in France politically, there can only be one Brigitte Bardot. She is the sultry style icon of the 60s and 70s, oozing sex appeal and showing us the French really do it best. The screen legend’s love of the South of France is reflected in her nautical looks (hello striped breton tops) and her hair carries with it a status to rival Audrey Hepburn’s.
BB, as she was famously known, started her aspiring ballerina before her fist forays into acting came along in her mid teens. She began acting in comedy films until her big break came with the controversial And God Created Woman, which propelled her into superstardom.
BB's career went from strength to strength, and she soon became an international sex symbol. Now a respected and committed animal rights activist, Brigitte lives in the South of France, remaining one of the country's (and the world's) most celebrated style icons.
Take a look at some of my favourite looks from this sartorially gifted actress and try not to be inspired.
